Samsung is reportedly working on making its foldables lighter while also boosting battery capacities, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 expected to arrive around the middle of the year. According to a report from South Korean outlet Maeil Business, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will weigh a mere 200 grams, down from the 215 grams of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to shed 38 grams, getting down to 150 grams, although well-known tipster @UniverseIce suggests a more realistic weight of 180 grams.

The same report also mentions the rumored price freeze for Samsung’s 2026 flagship phones, with the company trying its hardest not to raise prices despite increasing costs of parts and manufacturing. This move is likely to be welcomed by consumers, who are increasingly looking for affordable yet high-quality devices.

A Bigger Battery Too

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to get a battery capacity boost, up to 5,000mAh, an increase from the 4,400mAh of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Additionally, rumors suggest that S Pen support may return for Samsung foldables this year, to help compete with the rumored iPhone Fold.
