It currently scares me just how many things we need to ”Plug In” these days given the fact when we first moved in to our current home many, many years ago we only really had a Kettle, a Microwave and probably a couple lamps and an alarm clock! But these days with all our must-have gadgets …. I keep running out of sockets to plug anything in! Nightmare. And so ….. liking quality products, especially where electricity is concerned plus the point of over-loading anyone outlet ……. I always buy Belkin products, either Surge ones such as this, basic ones or even their All Singing All Dancing multi media ones.Just one word of caution. All because you turn a Single Socket into a Six Way one does not necessarily mean you can then run six high drain items off it …. [as in … ”sorry Mr Fireman.. I did not think it a problem running my six 2.5Kw heaters off one extension cable an issue”!!!] ….. So think of how you use your extension sockets and whilst it should not be an issue plugging 6 things in like lights, phone chargers, laptops etc … just note that many plug-in transformers do get very hot, so try not to place them next to each other and don’t do as many do …. stick the socket behind something where there is little or no air flow (or for that matter cover it over with some material to stop it ‘sticking out as an eye sore’ ) ….. you’ll just be asking for trouble and a visit from some burly Fireman/women.Anyway, as for the Belkin E-Series 6 Way/ 6 Plug SurgeStrip Surge Protected Extension Lead – 1 m Cable, White ….. they are great simple little (yer right … long – sorry) Extensions that do the job and once in use and quietly forgotten about do everything I need both safely and securely. What more could you ask.

Belkin products are second-to-none. I’ve been using them for my job for over 15 years and always recommend them to my clients (I fix computer problems) without any qualms about the recommendation coming back to haunt me. The actual build quality is obvious as soon as you handle their surge-protected extension leads – the cable is thicker and feels more substantial than cheap leads, and the main plastic casing feels almost industrial at the side of other brands. One thing you need to remember is that surge protectors are NOT all the same – some cheap ones have so little protection that they don’t last for more than one surge. Belkin state the protection measurement in joules – if you want to protect small electronics, 500 to 1000 joules is advisable. If you’re protecting your printer, computer, router etc. go for a protector that has at least 1000 joules. Above 2000 joules will protect home theatre and game console items. Basically, the higher the joules, the longer your items will be protected for (unless you live in an area which suffers from frequent lightning strikes or power fluctuations). Every time there’s a surge, it destroys a % of the protection, which is why it’s also advisable to buy a protector that shows a light for ‘Protected’ – once that light has gone out, you know you need to get a new protector pronto. Leads with a light for ‘earthed’ are advisable as well.Yes Belkin aren’t the cheapest compared with a supermarket lead but they’re most definitely worth it. Avoid ANY lead that doesn’t state the protection level in joules as it is money badly spent.

Purchased the 6-way a few years back and was impressed with the performance and value for money not to mention the slimline design and short cable which keeps my corner TV unit uncluttered. Good value for one which is surge protected. Can never have enough sockets so added this 4-way and it works perfectly just what you need when there is so much you can have plugged in these days! 1M cable length is perfect since our main socket is nearby and I needed 1M surge protection and this fits that criteria – though may prove a bit restrictive for some so if you need longer there is a 3M version available.
