Motorola Edge 70: A Budget-Friendly Alternative to the iPhone Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
It’s official: 2023 is the year of the thin phone, with major manufacturers like Samsung and Apple releasing sleek, ultra-slim devices. Now, Motorola has joined the fray with the Edge 70, a mid-range handset that promises to deliver a similar experience at a significantly lower price point.
The Edge 70 boasts an impressive 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The phone itself is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and features Gorilla Glass 7i on the front, making it one of the most durable handsets on the market. With an IP68 and IP69 rating, it’s also resistant to dust and water ingress.
Design and Features
The Edge 70’s design is visually striking, with three nylon-inspired finishes to choose from: Pantone Gadget Grey, Pantone Lily Pad, and Pantone Bronze Green. The phone is remarkably thin, measuring just 5.9mm in thickness, and weighs less than both the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air.

Camera and Performance
The Edge 70 features a dual-camera setup, consisting of a 50MP wide-angle lens and a 50MP ultra-wide lens, accompanied by a light sensor and flash. On the front, there’s a 50MP selfie camera. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and 12GB of RAM, making it a solid mid-range performer.

Battery Life and Charging
The Edge 70’s battery capacity is a notable highlight, with a large 4,800mAh cell that supports 68W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. This, combined with the phone’s power-efficient chipset, should provide all-day battery life.
In the UK, the Motorola Edge 70 is priced at £700, which is significantly lower than the iPhone Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. As an added incentive, Motorola is offering a £250 discount for customers who purchase the phone within the first two weeks of launch, bringing the price down to £450. This deal also includes a free Moto Watch Fit smartwatch, Moto Buds Loop wireless earbuds, and a Moto Tag, which is a £995 value.
For those looking for a budget-friendly alternative to the latest flagships, the Motorola Edge 70 is definitely worth considering. With its sleek design, capable cameras, and large battery, it’s an excellent option for anyone who wants a high-end experience without the hefty price tag.
